Kru Richard Raciti has been involved in the martial arts for over thirty years. His early interest in martial arts stemmed from his father's involvment in Jiu Jitsu. While serving in the US Navy Kru Raciti continued his martial arts training while competing as a boxer in the 12TH Naval District. As a fighter on the point karate circuit for over 15 years he amassed a string of victories of over 30 Grand Championships and 250 Divisional Title wins. He was the first tournament competitor ever to win gold medals in Breaking, Forms, Weapons, and Fighting...all in the same tournament sweeping every Black Belt division. In Olympic style Tae Kwon Do full contact fighting he has won the New Jersey State Championships in the Light Middle Weight Division and won The Pan-American Tae Kwon Do Federation's National Championships an unprecedented five times in a row. After becoming tired of the politics and limited range of allowable techniques in Tae Kwon Do fighting, Kru Raciti set his sights next on full contact fighting. After making the transition to full contact kickboxing he was undefeated in nine fights in the super welter and light middle weight fighting divisions. He has recently and rather unwillingly made the transition from fighter to teacher/ trainer becoming one of the most sought after coaches for Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts competition. At the age of 48 Kru Raciti can still be found on the mat or in the ring sparring with fighters and students. Kru Raciti recently competed in the Grappler's Quest No-Gi Championships on October 14TH taking the bronze medal in the master's division. He submitted his first opponent, was disqualified in his second match for applying a leg-lock...his speacialty, and then submitted his third opponent in less than 15 seconds...a little payback for the disqualification. He was the only competitor in the division who submitted all of his opponents. Mr. Raciti received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Professor Joe Moreira in 2008. He plans on competing in more grappling and BJJ tournaments in the future and is considering taking a Muay Thai fight as well. So much for retirement!
